Importance High

The tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) sector has achieved a new milestone, with total value locked (TVL) reaching $38.17 billion on August 9, 2026, according to data from Rwa.xyz. The market is now within striking distance of the $40 billion mark, needing just $1.83 billion to break through.

Tokenized RWAs bring physical and traditional finance assets onto blockchain as digital tokens, enabling fractional ownership, deeper liquidity, and transparent settlement. The sector has expanded across various asset classes, including U.S. Treasury debt, commodities, credit, stocks, and real estate.

U.S. Treasury debt dominates the market, commanding $16.21 billion in TVL across 87 products. Leading the way are Circle USYC ($3 billion), BlackRock’s BUIDL ($2.68 billion), and Ondo’s U.S. Dollar Yield fund ($2.14 billion). Franklin Templeton’s iBENJI holds $1.72 billion, followed by Janus Henderson ($882.30 million) and Invesco ($813.86 million).

Tokenized credit is also growing, with distributed value rising 1.63% to $7.30 billion, while Syrup USDC leads the category. Conversely, non-U.S. government debt saw a 7.78% decline to $1.28 billion.

Tokenized stocks show mixed signals: distributed value rose 5.10% to $2.37 billion, and monthly transfer volume surged 138.45% to $20.72 billion, despite a 16.36% drop in monthly active addresses. Holder numbers skyrocketed 117.93% to 1.09 million.

Tokenized commodities are on a hot streak, with distributed value reaching $4.88 billion (up 4.07%) and active addresses jumping 124.42% to 84,505. Tether Gold leads this category.

Overall, the investor base has widened significantly, with total holders rising 56.18% over the past month to 1,701,650. With $40 billion now in sight, the tokenized RWA sector continues its rapid expansion into traditional finance.
